Day ???, moving in continues...

Day 6

Originally, we were concerned about an area in the back yard. It is beneath the basketball goal...

Turns out, it is a bad sprinkler head. The previous owners were so focused on lawn care that they allowed it to become completely burried.

Looks like some ceiling work was performed to install lighting in the kitchen. Unfortunately, someone had some issues.

Day 2

Today was a tough day for some of us...

Personally, I think Ryder was pacing herself because it did not take long for her to assist in the lawn.

Day 1, continued

As you can see, Ryder has already found something to occupy her time. Fortunately, the previous owners were not very focused on yard maintenance and Ryder had plenty to keep her busy.

You can see the backyard from the door in the "den".  In the distance, Ryder is returning with the tennis ball she found.  In the shed we found a gas lawn mower and a number of assorted items that were left behind.

This is the back of the house. Yes, there is plenty of work that can be done there. On the right is the eat-in kitchen and on the left is the master bathrooom.

Popcorn ceiling...what were people thinking???  This was the test area to see if we could accomplish removal of the dreaded textured application. 

Yes, that is a new Boston Red Sox hat.  The old one is somewhere between grey and white.

That took about 5 minutes and we stopped there. Back in the morning to complete the ceiling and work on the textured walls. So many textures to remove!!!

Day 1

We received the keys today and Ryder was very happy with her new home and fenced backyard. Katie and I, however, just realized how much work we really have ahead of us. That being said, there was time for me to display my athletic ability to Katie.

Below is a photographs from the front, right side of the home. On the right are the four bedrooms: two up and two down. There are two bathrooms downstairs and there is a jack-and-jill bathroom upstairs between the bedrooms. The left side is the dining room.

As you can see, the landscaping has plenty of room for improvement.

Inaugural post

I am not sure if or how long this will last, but my goal is to update the status of any renovations to our new home. It is a 4 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath Tudor built in 1978 and few changes have been made by the two owners since it was built. Included below are photos of two new paintings and the chair around which the "formal" living room will revolve.

The Pear is approximately 28x32 and will be placed on the fireplace mantel.

This is our Louis XVI inspired chair that was a result of antiquing in New Orleans during August.

The nautical themed painting is approximately 14x18.

My Purdue University Captain's Chair. It is an early Christmas/birthday present from Doris & Bob Foell.
